Chief Financial Officer & Chief Admin Officer
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for strategic leadership and oversight of Everence’s financial management, human resources, enterprise technology, and data security. This role ensures the integrity and sustainability of the organization’s financial systems, people strategies, and operational infrastructure. The CFO/CAO develops and implements enterprise-wide strategies that support a values-driven, people-first culture while ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance. This executive serves as a key advisor to the CEO and is an active member of both the Executive Council and the Senior Leadership Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
Provide forward-thinking leadership for Everence’s financial health, including capital structure, financial budgeting, and sustainable growth strategies aligned with long-term mission and values. - Enterprise Risk & Compliance:
Lead risk management, business continuity, and internal audit functions in alignment with regulatory requirements. - Technology & Cybersecurity Oversight:
Guide enterprise information technology and information security strategy, systems modernization, and data governance. Ensure systems for a robust cybersecurity infrastructure and compliance are in place. - Innovation & Project Management:
Oversee and champion digital innovation and project management, emphasizing operational efficiency and scalable systems that enhance stakeholder experience and internal operations. - Human Resources:
Lead the alignment of enterprise-wide HR and talent strategies with organizational objectives. Oversee CHRO and partner with senior leadership to ensure the consistent implementation of policies that support a people-first culture rooted in Everence values. - Financial Planning & Analysis:
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning processes. Deliver clear, data-driven insights to internal and external stakeholders. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate financial and operational performance in a timely and effective manner across audiences: Everence board of directors, affiliated boards, regulatory agencies, senior leadership, management, staff, and the broader Everence community.
- Fiduciary Duties:
Serve as Trustee for the Everence 401(k) plan and ensure fiduciary standards are met. - Leadership & Talent Development:
Cultivate high-performing, cross-functional teams. Foster a culture of ethical leadership, collaboration, and accountability. - Mission & Values Alignment:
Embed Everence’s Anabaptist Christian values into financial practices and organizational culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
CPA, MBA, or other graduate degree in a business-related field preferred
Experience:
- At least 20 years of progressive experience in a company's financial function required
- Minimum of five years of proven leadership experience in a financial services/insurance organization with oversight of finance, IT, HR, and/or risk preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- A strategic thinker with proven ability to provide sound, ethical, and strategic financial counsel to Everence leadership
- Thorough understanding of finance and administration functions, information technology, and proven experience with enterprise IT and software tools
- Proven ability to lead through change and manage complexity in a regulated industry
- Ability to communicate effectively with auditors, accountants, actuaries, and regulators, as well as non-technical audiences
- Understanding of financial services regulations and direct experience working with oversight entities (e.g., NAIC and state Departments of Insurance, OCC, NCUA)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; willing to underwrite risk and make decisions consistent with the Everence mission, vision, and values
