Accounting Assistant

Everence Goshen, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for managing various tasks within the accounting department, including accounts payables, ACH returns, PAC arrangements, as well as entries related to banking and general ledger activity and support of annual tax and statutory filings.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Enter invoices into the accounting system.
  2. Support and complete annuity distribution EFTs.
  3. Review Bank EFT returned items, prepare journal entries, and account reconciliations. 
  4. Compile and maintain family travel and state tax worksheets.
  5. Mail W-9 requests and prepare 1099’s.
  6. Research questions about invoices and/or checks from managers.  
  7. Deposit and receipt checks.
  8. File state withholding taxes.
  9. Generate bank statements.
  10. Complete bank reconciliations.
  11. Set up and review charities for Donor Advised Funds.
  12. Upload Quarterly LOB/Financial Statements.
  13. Perform other tasks/duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent business experience

Experience

One to two years’ experience serving in a similar role

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Understanding of computer systems, financial reporting, and investments, and proficient with Microsoft Excel
  2. Accuracy with attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines and various ongoing tasks
  3. Ability to learn and take on new tasks and initiatives
  4. Respect and appreciation for the mission of Everence
